How to pay TDS online?

Steps to make TDS payment online

Step 1: Visit the NSDL website (Income Tax department site) to pay TDS online.

Step 2: On this page, various challans will be available for tax payment. Select ‘CHALLAN NO./ITNS 281’ under TDS/TCS section.

Step 3: On this page (challan ITNS 281), the following details need to be entered-

  • In the "Tax Applicable" section,
    • Select "(0020) Company Deductees" if TDS was deducted while making payment to the company.
    • Select "(0021) Non-Company Deductees" if TDS was deducted on payment to any person other than the company.
  • Enter Tax Deduction Account No and select the relevant Assessment Year.
  • Give the detail of Address, City, PIN code and select "State" from the dropdown.
  • Enter Email Id and Mobile Number in respective fields.
  • Enter the Captcha code and click the "Proceed" button.

Step 4: After submitting the details, a confirmation screen will be displayed. If PAN / TAN is valid as per the ITD PAN / TAN master, then the full name of the taxpayer as per the master will be displayed on the confirmation screen.

Step 5: On confirmation of the data so entered, the taxpayer will be directed to the net-banking site of the bank.

Step 6: The taxpayer has to login to the net banking site with net-banking login credentials and enters TDS payment details at the bank site.

Step 7: On successful payment, a challan counterfoil will be displayed containing CIN, payment details and bank name through which e-payment has been made. This counterfoil is proof of payment being made.
